A host of free daytime events have been announced as part of Celebrate Sport with the BBC, an action packed two-weeks of shows, events and interactive sessions taking place at MediaCityUK, and surrounding venues from 8 - 22 December.
Special shows and family activities taking place include:
· Bang Goes The Beautiful Game - The science behind football. Ever wondered how Balotelli bends the ball? This unique football themed version of the Bang Goes the Theory LIVE tour will give visitors the chance to go behind the scenes with special guests Manchester City to discover how the team uses science to prepare for the big game. Bang Goes the Theory’s Jem Stansfield and Dr Yan Wong will test, stretch and explode the science of football live on stage and there will be a range of interactive activities and fun experiments to try.
· In residence at MediaCityUK for the full two weeks will be The National Football Museum, which as well as offering a sneak preview of some of the prize exhibits that visitors will be able to see when the museum opens next year, will hold a range of family activities including the Baby Moves and Movement Matters Workshops (10 December), a football focused movement and music programme; Pickles the Dog Story Time (11 December), an interactive story session based on the true story of the 1966 World Cup theft and the opportunity for little ones to get crafty at the Football family creative sessions (17 -18 December)
· The Celebrate Sport Playzone interactive area will feature a range of hands-on activities throughout the two week period, including the chance for visitors to present their own 5 live news, star in a radio football play and take a penalty in the ‘beat the mascot’ challenge.
