At The Civic, we like to showcase great performances and exhibitions - and we don't let our location or size stop us.
We are proudly situated in Barnsley town centre and we feel it's important that we bring to Barnsley performances and exhibitions that make a stop in South Yorkshire woth the while, whilst touring larger towns and cities across the UK and around the globe.
The Civic was re-opened to the public of Barnsley in March 2009, after being closed for more than 11 years. The new venue is made up of The Assembly Room, a 264/336 seat performance space; The Gallery@; The Panorama; and a variety of studios and workshop spaces which are home to a variety of creative organisations. The Civic also programmes events in the re-landscaped Mandela Gardens.
